🎣 Fishing Fun & Feathered Friends at Lake Crabtree

This week, our Trail Mommas crew reeled in a whole lot more than fish—we caught a morning full of connection, learning, and wild wonders at Lake Crabtree County Park!

Our little anglers-in-training dove into the world of freshwater fishing with hands-on lessons in how to cast a line, identify the different parts of a fishing pole, and discover what kind of fish call Lake Crabtree home. With guidance and encouragement, the group learned the basics of baiting a hook and the patience that comes with waiting for a bite.

And guess what? It paid off!

We’re thrilled to share that our group successfully caught two fish—a wriggly bluegill and a whiskered catfish—sparking wide-eyed excitement and proud smiles all around.

But the fun didn’t stop at the water’s edge. After the program wrapped up, we looked to the skies and were lucky enough to spot three majestic bald eagles soaring overhead. It was a beautiful reminder of how spending time outdoors opens the door to some of nature’s most awe-inspiring moments.

Fishing Fun at Lake Crabtree was more than just a day of learning—it was a chance to unplug, try something new, and experience the thrill of the catch (and release!). Whether it was your child’s first cast or you simply came to soak in the views, we’re so glad you joined us.

Stay tuned for more Trail Mommas adventures—we’re just getting started!
